Cursor Bugbot Effort Levels: Customize PR Review Depth

TL;DR

  • Bugbot now lets you choose effort levels for PR reviews — default, high, or custom
  • High effort finds 35% more bugs (0.95 vs 0.7 per run) but costs more and takes longer
  • Custom effort uses natural language instructions to dynamically adjust review intensity
  • Requires usage-based billing; available to Teams admins and Individual plan users

New

  • Default effort — Bugbot's existing speed-optimized mode. Finds 0.7 bugs per run on average, with 79% resolved at merge time.
  • High effort — Extended reasoning for deeper analysis. Finds 0.95 bugs per run but costs more and takes longer to complete.
  • Custom effort — Write natural language rules to tell Bugbot when to use default or high effort. Cursor dynamically adjusts based on your instructions.

Configure effort levels in your Bugbot dashboard. See the docs for setup details.
