Cursor 1.7: Browser Controls, Plan Mode & Hooks Beta
Cursor 1.7 brings browser automation to Agent, Plan Mode for strategic task planning, and Hooks for custom Agent behavior. Plus sandboxed terminals, PR summaries, and shareable prompt deeplinks.
TL;DR
- Agent can now take screenshots and control browsers for UI debugging
- Plan Mode lets agents write detailed strategies before tackling complex tasks
- Hooks (beta) let you observe and customize Agent behavior with custom scripts
- Sandboxed terminals add security; Bugbot now auto-generates PR summaries
New
- Browser Controls — Agent can take screenshots, improve UI, and debug client-side issues directly
- Plan Mode — Agent writes detailed plans before starting complex tasks, enabling longer, more strategic runs
- Autocomplete for Agent — Prompt suggestions appear based on recent changes; tab to accept and attach files to context
- Hooks (beta) — Custom scripts let you observe, control, and extend Agent behavior at runtime; audit usage, block commands, or redact secrets
- Team Rules — Define and share global rules from the dashboard applied across all projects and Bugbot
- Shareable Deeplinks (beta) — Generate deeplinks for reusable prompts; useful for documentation and team workflows
- Sandboxed Terminals — Commands execute in secure sandbox; non-allowlisted commands run with workspace access but no internet
- PR Summaries from Bugbot — Auto-generates GitHub PR summaries that update as you push changes
- Menubar Agent Monitor — Check Agent status directly from your menubar
- Image File Support for Agent — Agent can read image files directly from your workspace, not just pasted images
Improved
- Code pasted from files and terminal now explicitly mentioned in Chat for clarity
- Agent shell detection fixed — correctly uses PowerShell on Windows and when set as default on macOS/Linux, preventing Bash syntax errors
