Codex App Update: Browser, Computer Use, PR Reviews
Codex gains in-app browser, computer use for macOS, GitHub PR reviews, and thread automations. Verify work, manage longer tasks, and preview artifacts without leaving the app.
TL;DR
- In-app browser and computer use (macOS) let you verify work without leaving Codex
- GitHub PR reviews now happen in-app with diff inspection and inline feedback
- Chats, thread automations, and task sidebar make longer workflows easier to manage
- Artifact viewer previews PDFs, spreadsheets, and docs before sharing
New
- In-app browser — Open local or public pages, comment on rendered content, and ask Codex to address feedback without switching tabs.
- Computer use — Codex can see, click, and type in macOS apps for native testing, simulator flows, and GUI-only bugs. (Not available in EEA, UK, or Switzerland at launch.)
- Chats — Start threads without picking a project folder first, useful for research, planning, and non-codebase work.
- Thread automations — Schedule threads to wake up and continue conversations, perfect for monitoring long-running processes or follow-up loops.
- Task sidebar — Track plans, sources, artifacts, and summaries while Codex works.
- GitHub PR reviews in-app — Inspect pull requests, review diffs and comments, ask Codex to explain feedback or make changes, all without leaving the app.
- Artifact viewer — Preview PDFs, spreadsheets, documents, and presentations in the sidebar before committing or sharing.
- Memories — Carry context from past tasks into future threads, including preferences and project conventions (where available).
- Remote connections (alpha) — SSH remote connections rolling out gradually.
- Multiple terminals — Run parallel terminal sessions in the integrated terminal.
- Multi-window support — Pop out floating windows for side-by-side work.
- Intel Mac support — Codex now runs on Intel-based Macs.
- macOS menu bar and Windows system tray — Quick access from your system UI.
- New plugins — Expanded plugin ecosystem for deeper integrations.
- Context-aware suggestions — Get relevant follow-ups when you start or return to a thread.
